See our June calendar to find out what's on at Geelong Canoe Club. Big news this month - our Annual General Meeting has been scheduled for Saturday 18 July at 10.00am. And we're moving our Tuesday and Thursday evening social paddle sessions to an earlier time of 4.30pm.

Marathon come and try fundraising race a great success

Geelong Canoe Club's marathon come and try race on 31 May 2026 was a great success. The participants had a great time while raising funds for two of our young athletes who have made it to this year's world championships - Alexis Jane and Thomas Russell.

GCC marathon come and try fundraising day 31 May 2026

Geelong Canoe Club is holding a marathon race come and try day to raise funds for two of our young athletes who have made it to this year's world championships - Alexis Jane and Thomas Russell. The marathon come try race starts at 10am. There's also a come try session for anyone that's new to paddling which starts at 11.00am. All paddle craft allowed except for foils. Donate to our young athletes to participate.

Bigger news is 31 May is the date set for our marathon race and come and try day to raise funds for two of our young athletes who have made it to this year's paddle world championships.

April 2026 Calendar of what's on at Geelong Canoe Club

Daylight savings ends on Sunday 5 April so there's big changes to our regular Club activities. Our last Thursday night paddle pursuit for this season is 2 April. Tuesday social paddles will start at 4:45pm from 7 April. And we're working to have our canoe polo sessions at an indoor pool. There's also a placeholder date for a Club racing and fun day we're planning to support Thomas Russell at worlds sprints.

This list includes information on our general paddle sessions, kids programs, river rambles and canoe polo. A huge event we're hosting with Paddle Victoria is the Victorian Canoe Marathon Championships - participate or volunteer. We also have our working bee on this month too.

Come and Try Canoe Polo at the Geelong Canoe Club

Canoe polo is an exciting fast-paced game played by two teams of five players on a rectangular playing pitch that can be in open water or in a swimming pool. Join our free Come and Try session on Sunday 22 February 2025 so that we can introduce you to the sport in a fun and safe environment.

Vic Canoe Marathon Championships are on in Geelong in March

The Victorian Canoe Marathon Championships will be held on the Barwon River at the Geelong Canoe Club from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 March 2026. This is a great opportunity for as many members as possible to experience racing at a championship level. Register to race or help out by volunteering - there's lots of great jobs for paddlers and non-paddlers.

River access restricted this weekend 24 and 25 January 2026

Racing for Victoria's largest rowing event, the Barwon Regatta, starts at 8am on January 24 until 4pm on January 25. Anyone not registered to take part in the regatta is prohibited from entering the river from approximately 70 metres downstream of the Geelong Canoe Club to Landy Field.

Calm conditions expected for The Impossible Ocean Paddle Race

There's still time to register for The Impossible Ocean Paddle race on this weekend Saturday 22 November 2025. Participants with all types of craft are registered to paddle the 18km distance from Torquay to Ocean Grove. Calm conditions are expected making this a great opportunity for paddle-fit first timers to have a go at this great race.
