Thanks to all our members who joined us for this year's Geelong Canoe Club (GCC) Annual General Meeting - it was great to see the room full of such supportive members.
Congratulations to our incoming Executive Committee: Carmel Brown (President), Carmel Pino (Vice-President), Suellen Parker (Secretary) and Michael Shanahan (Treasurer).
Sean McGee and Ivor Morgan share the Reg Parker Club Person of the Year award for coaching our up and coming paddlers and in particular for supporting two of our young athletes get to the Worlds. Congratulations also goes to Tom Russell who took out the Club Paddler of the Year award as a reflection of his commitment to competitive paddling.
Greg Parker, a long serving club member, committee member and volunteer was awarded the Lifetime Membership Award for his commitment and dedication to GCC. His association to this club goes back a long way starting with Reg Parker (his father and who the Club Person of the Year Award is in honour of) and continues into extended members of his family.
Incoming committee members are not the only ones that need to be congratulated. There is a much broader general committee where individual representatives manage specific paddle disciplines such as canoe polo, sprints and marathon racing, and sea kayaking as well as other specialty areas such as maintenance, authorities’ management and event coordination and catering. We want to acknowledge each and every one of these volunteers and also thank anyone who helps us run the club including keeping it looking neat and tidy - your help no matter how large or small is greatly appreciated.
The 2026/27 Executive and broader Committee is looking forward to continuing the work of ensuring GCC remains an inclusive and social environment providing a range of paddle sport participation opportunities for all ages, abilities and experience levels.
