Geelong Canoe Club events and activities

We run a number of activities during the week from group paddles along the river most Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings to paddle pursuits on Thursday evenings during day light savings.

Be sure to always check out our Facebook page for any last minute changes.

  • Saturday morning social paddles - on the water at 9.30 am. All abilities, all craft types.
  • Tuesday evenings social paddle - on the water at 4.30 pm. All abilities, all craft types.

Kayaking for Kids program 

The program is designed to introduce the young participants of all ages to the sport of paddling through fun and games. If the participants want to progress or move into competition the opportunity will be available. 

We run a number of Kayaking for Kids sessions a year. The format varies from consecutive days to weekly sessions.

Upcoming sessions:

  • 2024 Term 2 program: Starts Monday 15 April and finishes Monday 3 June 2024.
  • Sessions: 8 x 1.5 hour on Mondays

Barwon River closures, events and zoning

Barwon River is sometimes closed in sections for special events like rowing regattas, paddle marathons and water skiing. There are also events such as running marathons which impact access to the waterway.

These activities are managed by Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CCMA) as they are responsible for the 20km stretch of river that goes through Geelong including where Geelong Canoe Club is located.
