Geelong Canoe Club has a strong membership with people from many walks of life and with very individual paddling interests. 

We are an affiliate club of Paddle Australia and Paddle Victoria. Where Paddle Australia / Paddle Victoria membership is involved it ensures you receive benefits such as personal accident and third party public liability protection as well as on water insurance when paddling or competing in an event.

How our memberships works

A Geelong Canoe Club membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June.

  • New members can join any time and will be charged a pro-rate rate to 30 June (conditions apply). 
    • From 1 January – 6 months. 
    • From 1 April – 3 months.
  • Existing memberships are due to be renewed and paid by 1 July every year.

This allows GCCC members to attend meetings at the Geelong Canoe Club as per the MOU. Membership arrangements directly via GCCC

Note:

Voting and holding office in our Committee
All members aged 18 and over are eligible to vote and hold office on our committee. Age is determined at 31 December each year.

Insurance

  • Geelong Canoe Club members who are also members of Paddle Australia / Paddle Victoria are covered by insurance as specified on Paddle Australia's website.
  • Geelong Canoe Club Affiliate members joining through organisations such as Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association (AOCRA) and Dragon Boat Victoria (DBV) must be full members of their organisations to be covered by their respective insurances.
  • Craft stored at Geelong Canoe Club's facility are not covered by insurance. Please arrange your own cover if required. As a Paddle Australia member benefit you can access competitively priced paddle craft and equipment insurance through their Paddle Protect insurance policy.

Joining and renewing

How to join

1.    Email Geelong Canoe Club Memberships: Tell us that you’d like to join the club, what type of paddling you are interested in and your contact details. 
Please do this before registering or paying – unknown registration requests can’t be approved. 

2.     We will contact you to arrange an introductory meeting.

3.    Review and approval: After we’ve spoken to you we’ll review your membership requirements and contact you about the next steps.

How to renew your membership

The 2023/24 membership year is now open. Every year in June we’ll notify you when it’s time to renew, noting that payment will be due before 1 July.

Senior, Student, Junior, Family: NEW and RENEWING membership

  • Geelong Canoe Club, Paddle Australia and Paddle Victoria members pay by debit or credit card to Paddle Australia.

Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association (AOCRA) and Dragon Boat Victoria Affiliate memberships, and GYM ONLY memberships: NEW and RENEWING/RETURNING.

Use the relevant button below to link to payment site and pay using the following:

  • Paypal. These payments attract a 2.60%+0.63AUD additional processing fee plus $1 service fee. Payments are processed instantly. 
  • Direct deposit. Use the invoice number (eg MR... or MO... or MU...) P and surname as the payment reference. Anything else will cause processing delays. Direct deposits don’t have fees but take 7 days to process and for your membership to activate.
