Geelong Canoe Club has a number of paddling experiences that will have your children, family and friends enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills and get to know the environment around the Barwon River. You can book for individuals or groups.
All programs are run by Paddle Australia qualified instructors, have current Working With Children Checks, and are trained in First Aid. All paddling equipment (kayak, paddle, life vest) and insurance is provided.
The programs start at our excellent club facilities and once set up and briefed participants make their way to the launching area just a few steps away.
There's a program to suit everyone. For those that find (or already have) a love of paddling and want to progress their skills or continue through our weekly club activities there is also the option of a club membership:
- Kayaking4Kids - Summer holiday program 2025
A five-day course for children aged 8 - 16 years
Monday 13 January to Friday 17 January 2025. From 9:00am to 12:00pm (3 hours daily)
Participants will have the opportunity to learn kayaking skills in a fun and safe environment using the Paddle Victoria 'Paddle Power' program. Each day will involve different activities to help build paddling skills including games, canoe polo, and the opportunity to take part in an expedition up the river.
No previous paddling experience needed, however, participants need to be able to swim short distances. Return participants or those that have already been in another Kayaking4Kids Program will be further challenged in their paddling and leadership skills.
Cost: $180.00

- Kayaking4Kids - Term 1, 2025 Paddle Program
An eight-week course for children aged 8 - 16 years
Monday 3 February to Monday 24 March 2025. From 4:30pm to 6:00pm
Participants will have the opportunity to learn kayaking skills in a fun and safe environment using the Paddle Victoria 'Paddle Power' program. Each session will involve different activities to help build paddling skills including games, canoe polo, and the opportunity to take part in an expedition up the river.

- Geelong Canoe Club River Ramble - January 2025
A relaxing 2.5 hour paddle to explore the Barwon River. Adults, minimum age 18 years.
Sunday 5 January, 2025. From 9:30am to 12:00pm
We run a series of River Rambles throughout the year. These events are relaxed, social paddles designed for social and community connection, where participants can get out on the water in a friendly, social and safe manner. Participants will learn about the native wildlife, ecology, Indigenous perspectives and history, and the impact of introduced species along the river as they paddle.
No previous paddling experience needed, however, participants need to be able to swim short distances.
Cost: $30.00

- Geelong Canoe Club Membership - a gift that keeps giving
A great option for those that already love paddling or that have already completed one of our programs.
Our memberships run yearly but are charged on a pro-rata basis so for this year is would be for around six months of membership. There's a process to joining (it's easy) including initial contact by email for a discussion and going out for a paddle during one of our group activities.
