Kayaking programs designed especially for kids - fun, safe and interactive
Geelong Canoe Club has a number of paddling experiences that will have your children enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills and get to know the environment around the Barwon River. You can book for individuals or groups.
Our Kayaking4Kids programs are run by Paddle Australia qualified instructors, have current Working With Children Checks, and are trained in First Aid. All paddling equipment (kayak, paddle, life vest) and insurance is provided.
The programs start at our excellent club facilities and once set up and briefed participants make their way to the launching area just a few steps away.
River Ramble on the Barwon River (16 years and over)
A relaxing paddle to explore the Barwon River in Geelong. Part of the Club’s River Ramble series, these events are relaxed, social paddles open to adults (minimum age 16 years) of all paddling abilities.
Led by Paddle Australia qualified guides, participants will learn about the native wildlife, ecology, Indigenous perspectives and history, and the impact of introduced species along the river as they paddle.
All paddling equipment (sit-on-top kayak, paddle, life vest) and insurance is provided. While participants do not require previous experience paddling, they need to be able to swim short distances in the unlikely event they end up in the water.
Geelong Canoe Club Membership - a gift that keeps giving
For those that already have a love of paddling and want to progress their skills or continue through our weekly club activities there is also the option of a club membership.
Our memberships run yearly but are charged on a pro-rata basis so for this year is would be for around six months of membership. There's a process to joining (it's easy) including initial contact by email for a discussion and going out for a paddle during one of our group activities.
